Dharmayuddhaya 2 has officially made history, becoming the highest-grossing film in Sri Lankan cinema by crossing Rs. 600 million in domestic ticket sales alone. Released on January 23, 2026, the film is a Sinhala adaptation of the Indian crime thriller Drishyam 2, with Bimal Jayakody leading the cast.
Just 50 days after its island-wide release, the film crossed the Rs. 500 million mark from local sales — a first for the industry. It also became the first Sri Lankan film to expand internationally through a partnership with the International Movie Distributors Network, screening in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the US, and Canada. Its Australian premiere alone recorded 1,000 advance bookings across major cinema chains. The film is directed by Aruna Jayawardene and produced by MTV Channel and The Capital Maharaja Organisation, with Dilhani Ekanayake, Kusum Renu, Kumara Thirimadura, and Ashan Dias reprising their roles from the original.
